LWRC M6IC - DI Rifle First Look and Review

LWRC M6-ICDI:

Upgrades:
Strike Industries Enhanced Dust Cover
Magpul CTR Stock
8.6 lbs Loaded

Commentary:
As soon as I saw this gun I knew I had to have it. I came across this gun at a local store that opened up on the eight weeks ago. I originally went in to look at a Spikes Tactical Punisher complete rifle that they had advertised for sale, however when I handled the spikes it felt extremely heavy and I wasn't a fan of the spiderwebs style hand guard. They had a couple Daniel defense is up on the wall and this LWRC above them. The previous day I had been into a different local gun store looking at BCM complete rifles however was going to hold off until I had handled the Spikes.

As soon as the gun store employee pull the rifle down and I handled it I knew it was going home with me, as soon as you take hold of this rifle the perfect balance and weight distribution is obvious. I also highly enjoy the fact even though this is far from an affordable rifle, there's only a few nitpick things that need to be changed out, I won't even call them upgrades, just personal customizations.

As you can see this rifle comes with a myriad of upgrades directly from the factory, LW RC has a long track history of producing extremely high-quality piston driven rifles and is now entering into the direct impingement market. I'm over the moon to have my hands on this rifle and I'm glad to have come across it.

I won't go into too much, view the video above for my full review - but I'm very excited to have this LWRC M6IC in the Tactical Lunacy Armory.

Here is an extra sneak peak at the 25/300 Meter zero for this gun...

Factory Specifications:
Proprietary DI Bolt Carrier Group
Direct Impingement Gas System
One Piece Free Float Rail
Fully Ambidextrous Lower
Fully NiCorr Treated Upper and Lower

Center Mass Patrol Rifle Integrated Magazine Pouch

What I have for you today is a WOW product that is probably one of the most innovative and excellent new products for a Police Duty Belt.

Introduce the Center Mass Patrol Rifle Integrated Magazine Pouch. What this item does is mount behind a duty pouch of your choice, usually a pistol magazine pouch or a taser holster, and allow you to temporarily or permanently mount an Patrol Rifle Magazine behind it. Now why is this so revolutionary? If you patrol with a rifle I'm sure you are aware that additional magazines can be a pain in the ass. Officers routinely use drop leg magazine holsters (also one of my favorites) outer LBV vests, or side satchel magazine holders. What makes this product great is that it is both slim and discrete making it a perfect item to maintain itself with a permanent place on your duty belt without becoming cumbersome and un-ergonomic.

Verdict: Not only is this item a must for the gear queer on patrol, but in all seriousness - This item can be a realistic solution to an officer equipped with a patrol rifle, and in a society of active shooters I would give it a solid 10/10. At a MSRP of $44.99

Fanny Pack for CCW?

In my opinion, this has to be the worst possible idea, and biggest display your douchbagery there is in the world of carrying a concealed weapon. Not only does it draw attention to yourself having this huge ugly large pouch on your belt, which I should add, is clearly holding a weapon of some kind. It also has to be one of the slowest holsters to access and un-erganomic accessory for shooters all over.

Gun Manufacture's Act of Defiance Ahead of Magazine Ban in Colorado

Gun Manufacture's Act of Defiance Ahead of Magazine Ban in Colorado

It will be illegal to purchase, manufacture or sell magazines that hold more than 15 rounds of ammunition in the state of Colorado come Monday. Recently-passed gun control measures have Second Amendment supporters angry while several gun manufacturers are fleeing the state.
One of the companies getting out of Colorado is Magpul Industries — but not before one final, symbolic act of defiance.
Magpul Plans to Give Away 1,500 30 Round Magazines Ahead of New Colorado Magazine Ban
Magpul plans to give away 1,500 30-round ammunition magazines in Colorado on Saturday, just a couple days before the ban goes into effect. The magazines will be given away at a “Freedom Festival” on a first-come first-served basis. The event will be held at Infinity Park in Glendale, Colo., from 4-8 p.m., Magpul announced on its official Facebook page.
A number of gun control measures will go into effect July 1, including the magazine ban and expansive universal background checks. However, the law is not retroactive and allows gun owners to keep soon-to-be illegal high-capacity magazines if they were purchased legally before July 1.
In other words, every gun owner who gets a free 30-round magazine from Magpul is covered.

“Just to clarify, it seems many of the local news outlets are billing us as an ‘ammunition’ company, and saying that we will be giving out free ammo. This is incorrect…as you all know, we build magazines and accessories, and it is empty, 20 and 30 round magazines that will be for sale and also given away for the first 1500,” Magpul said in a statement.
Magpul, which claims it contributes roughly $85 million to Colorado’s economy and employs 200 people, is leaving Colorado over the new gun control measured signed into law by Gov. John Hickenlooper in response to the Sandy Hook shooting.
The company reaffirmed its plan to leave Colorado on its Facebook page on Thursday, though Magpul hasn’t announced where it plans to relocate.

Magpul Releases 40 Round PMag

Magpul is now shipping its heavy-duty next-gen 40-round PMAG for the 5.56×45 NATO (.223 Rem), compatible with AR-15/M4 weapon systems. Along with expanded feature set and compatibility, the GEN M3 incorporates new material technology and manufacturing processes for enhanced strength, durability, and reliability to exceed rigorous military performance specifications.
Modified internal and external geometry also permits operation with a wide range of non Colt-spec platforms such as the HK 416 and MR556A1, M27 IAR, British SA-80, FN SCAR MK 16/16S, and others. A redesigned bolt catch notch in the rear of the magazine provides increased bolt catch clearance, while an over-travel stop on the spine helps ensure the magazine will not over-insert on compatible weapons.
Similar to the MOE PMAG, the GEN M3 features a long-life stainless steel spring, four-way anti-tilt follower and constant-curve internal geometry for reliable feeding, and simple tool-less disassembly to ease cleaning. In addition, an included pop-off Impact/Dust Cover can optionally be used to minimize debris intrusion and protect against potential damage during storage and transit. Low profile ribs and new aggressive front and rear texture gives positive control of the GEN M3 in all environments, and a paint pen dot matrix has been added to the bottom panel of the body to allow easy marking by the end user for identification. The new, easy to disassemble flared floorplate aids extraction and handling of the magazine while providing improved drop protection, but is slightly slimmer than before for better compatibility with tight double and triple magazine pouches.

MAGPUL MBUS PRO BACK-UP SIGHTS

Expected release for these sights is LATE 2013

MBUS PRO FRONT

The new MBUS Pro.  The all-steel back up sighting solution that delivers maximum functionality and strength with minimum bulk at a price that’s even smaller than its size.  The dual aperture, windage adjustable rear and no-tool, elevation adjustable front excel in all 1913 Picatinny rail mounting applications, including rail-height gas blocks.
Positive detents keep the MBUS PRO front and rear at standard AR sight height when deployed, and so low when they are stowed that you’ll never notice them until they’re needed.  Narrow width front is compatible with most IR aiming laser and light installations for the professional user.

  • All steel construction
  • Elevation adjustment knob – no tools required
  • Positive detents in both the up and down positions
  • .432” height above rail at tallest point when stowed
  • Standard AR sight height when deployed
  • Stowed footprint covers less than 1 5/8” of rail

Smith & Wesson M&P15 Optics Ready Review (Text & Video)

I Chose the M&P15 Optics Ready simply for price point and quality, I purchased the weapon on 05/23/2013, post election price was $860, with the Nations Finest Rebate I’ll end up being into it for $760. I should add the purpose of this rifle is patrol/defense use, not a shelf filler what-so-ever.

Total Budget for this Build on a Budget: $1100
Total Spent on this Build: $1020
    Anyway onto the build,

    1) Replaced that disgusting factory grip with a Magpul MOE grip, night and day difference, for approximately $20 I have to recommend this upgrade.

    2) The “Optics Ready” gave me quite a bit of trouble initially, deciding what the best back up iron sights were going to be without spending $200 on a set of Troy Defense sights that will be zeroed and then never used again (remember I’m on a public servants salary) Now, before I get flamed for the age old ”is your life worth a cheap set of sights?” let me remind you that good equipment does not make a good shooter. I chose the UTG flip up iron sights, they run about $40 for the pair, they are a great solid set of back up sights. They do not feature spring assisted opening, which contributes largely to the affordable price.

    3) The next dilemma was the reflex scope. Once again, my budget for the entire build was approximately $1100 (Total came to about $1020) I debated investing a ton of money into an EO-Tech, or going a cheaper route, after many hours of research and reading reviews, I found the Sightmark Ultra Shot QD Sight for $90. The sight features a quick release clamp, 4 different reticles, 5 brightness settings, and cheap batteries ( must) My thought process behind this was finding an affordable red dot scope that was both effective and durable. Also, Sightmark features a 2 year warranty should anything happen to the sight making it a one of the best functioning looking and working sights at the price point.

    4) the final thing that had to go is the ugly and out dated A2 style hand guard. These hand guards are useful for literally nothing, as well as failing to properly allow the barrel to cool. I replaced this with a picatinny rail which was complimented by a set of Magpul XTM Enhanced Rail Panels, forward grip to come in the future. I chose this over a Magpul hand guard as it allows 100% customization on the fly.
That’s all for now, more pics to follow.
